Autumn is coming to Rovaniemi… and with it, the most anticipated student festival of the year:
KUKSAJAISET GOES ROACHELLA
Are you ready to experience the cheapest festival of the summer?
Forget California, palm trees and luxury villas – we’re doing this on a student budget, in the middle of Lapland’s autumn, with overalls that will probably smell at least a little questionable. Roachella brings together sitsit, a checkpoint challenge, an appro pub crawl, an afterparty and the ultimate fake festival experience into one gloriously chaotic day.
This year, Kuksajaiset transforms into the student version of an influencer festival: expect glitter, festival outfits, fake VIP vibes, macaroni casserole instead of overpriced festival food, and content that looks great on Instagram but feels like a very bad idea the next morning.
During the day, you can collect up to 5 overall patches:

Festival vibes only.
Sitsit or sittning are a traditional academic dinner party filled with sing-alongs, table chants and an atmosphere that starts off elegant and usually ends in everyone collectively yelling the lyrics to a song. At the Roachella sitsit, expect glitter, festival anthems, suspicious drink combinations and more “woo girl” energy than anyone asked for.
Four 90-minute sitsit sessions will be held throughout the day:

Registration for the sittning takes place through Kide.app. Choose the session that works best with your schedule, grab your ticket and secure your spot before all the other festival influencers beat you to it.

Checkpoint race
The influencers have gotten lost in Lapland…
Roachella’s checkpoint challenge throws you straight into festival fever, bizarre challenges and some highly questionable lifestyle choices. Gather your own festival crew, dress according to the theme and make your way through a series of checkpoints designed to test your creativity, survival skills and ability to look good in group photos.
Team size: 3–6 people.
Buy your ticket for the checkpoint challenge and enter your team name when registering. Please make sure that every member of your team does the same.
Checkpoint race is between 1pm and 21pm

Winners of the checkpoint race will be awarded at the afterparty in Nightclub Doris at 11.30pm.
TICKET EXCHANGE
You can exchange your ticket for a checkpoint pass and an overall patch either at ROTKO’s stand in Jokiväylä, Rovaniemi (dates and times will be announced later!) or at ROTKO’s booth at Kansantalo on the event day from 12PM to 8PM. The address is Urheilukatu 2.
CHECKPOINT RACE MAP
You can find the checkpoints for the race in your checkpoint pass, which you’ll receive when exchanging your ticket. However, you can also see the checkpoint locations on the map that will be uploaded below. By opening the map, you can view in more detail which checkpoint is which.
One more round before sunrise…
The Roachella Appro Bar Crawl transforms the city’s bars into the official pre-party, pit stop, and “we were only supposed to have one” destinations of the student festival. Collect stamps, make your way from bar to bar, and soak up the festival atmosphere in a way that will make the next morning a highly educational experience. Only the most persistent will make it to the finish line.
During the Appro Bar Crawl, participants visit different bars and collect stamps by purchasing food and drinks. The aim is to complete a new annual “degree,” with each completed degree earning you a unique overall patch. Completing one degree also unlocks the opportunity to earn the next one the following year.
Participating venues are open between 12:00 and 21:00. Please note that individual venues have different opening hours. You can check the schedule for each venue in your Appro Pass.
Completed Appro Passes can be exchanged for an overall patch at the ROTKO point at Kansantalo until 22:00. If you are unable to exchange your completed pass for a patch on the day of the event, we will announce additional exchange opportunities at our offices later.

APPRO PASS
You can exchange your Kide.app ticket for an Appro Pass either at ROTKO’s stand at Jokiväylä in Rovaniemi (dates and times will be announced closer to the event) or on the day of the event at the ROTKO point at Kansantalo between 12:00 and 22:00. The address is Urheilukatu 2.
Please note: The ROTKO point at Kansantalo is also where completed Appro Passes can be exchanged for overall patches.
Your Appro Pass is complete once you have collected the required number of stamps from different participating venues:
6 stamps → Kuksanomi
8 stamps → Kuksanööri (only available to those who have already completed Kuksanomi)

After party
What would student events be without an afterparty! This year, the afterparty will take place at Nightclub Doris. Doors open at 10pm.

Sillis
The day after…
The festival is over, but the festival crowd remains.
When you’re still finding glitter in places where you definitely didn’t put it, your overalls smell like yesterday’s questionable life choices, and your camera roll raises more questions than it answers, it’s time to head to Roachella’s official sillis.
Sillis, short for silliaamiainen (“herring breakfast”), is a traditional morning-after event at Finnish student parties: a relaxed get-together with food, hanging out and recovering together from the previous day’s festivities. Despite the name, you don’t actually have to eat herring – and by the time everyone arrives, it may not even be morning anymore.
At the Roachella sillis, festival glamour gives way to recovery mode. So pull on your overalls, salvage yesterday’s glitter from your face – or just add some fresh glitter – and come spend the final hours of Roachella with your fellow festival survivors.
Sillis is held on Saturday 26.9.2026 at Kansantalo 2 between 12PM-4PM.

Buses to Rovaniemi for Kemi-Tornio students.
A low-cost bus transport has been arranged for participants traveling from Kemi and Tornio to Rovaniemi and back on Kuksajaiset Day, Friday 19 September 2025.
