The Student Union ROTKO is looking for head tutors to support and guide tutor teams and to develop tutoring at Lapland UAS. As a head tutor, you support tutors in their daily work and help make sure that communication is clear, work runs smoothly, and the team feels well.
As a head tutor, you are the main support person for your tutor team. You stay in contact with tutors, ROTKO, and university staff, and you help solve questions and situations together with others. Your tasks include regular meetings with tutors, developing tutoring and teamwork, and supporting team spirit and well-being through well-being activities for the tutor team.
This role is a great opportunity to develop important working life skills, such as team leadership, communication, and coordination. As a head tutor, you can practise taking responsibility, guiding different people, working with different partners, and solving problems in a constructive way.

According to the preliminary schedule, the training will take place in March during a one-night training and orientation trip in Tervola on March 13–14, 2026 (schedule changes are possible). After this, the term of office will begin and continue until April of the following year. Please let us know in the application form if the training dates are not suitable for you. HEAD TUTORS IN LAPLAND UAS

Head tutor – support and connection builder!
As a head tutor, you will play a key role in supporting tutors and ensuring everything runs smoothly. Your job is to build connections, share information, and guide the team so that tutoring is a rewarding and meaningful experience for students. Head tutors stay in touch with tutors, the tutoring workgroup, and university staff.
Community and networks
- Head tutor team: you will be part of the tutoring workgroup and tutor team, where you will share experiences and develop operations with other professionals.
- Collaboration network: you will collaborate closely with tutors, study counsellors, Rotko community developers, and other Rotko members.
- Responsibility area: there are head tutors at all campuses of Lapland UAS: Rovaniemi, Kemi, and Tornio.
Tasks and responsibilities
- The head tutor serves as close support to tutors, meeting with the team regularly at least once a month either remotely or in person.
- Point of contact: the head tutor acts as a link between tutors, Rotko community developers, and amk staff. If a tutor has questions, the head tutor helps find the answers.
- Tutor activities: the head tutor ensures that tutors receive information about events and important student-related topics, such as Ratko’s weekly newsletter.
- Instagram support: the head tutor ensures that tutors have access to the campus tutors’ Instagram account and provides guidance on its use.
- Supporting the community: the head tutor ensures that tutors have the opportunity to participate in team-building activities and organizes enjoyable team events.
Duration
- Head tutors begin their duties after training, starting in the spring (April). The position lasts for about a year.
Participation and development
Head tutors participate in monthly tutoring workgroup meetings and contribute to developing tutoring practices. They can also influence what types of joint activities tutors would like to participate in and help organize these activities within their own teams.
